Cannibalism to solve world hunger.

"Cannibalism- the act or practice of eating human flesh by another human being."

Is this a foul act that is conducted by sick and disturbed human beings, or a solution to the worlds problems?

Now, before you begin judging, and finalizing your theories on my current state of mind, consider the benefits that Cannibalism could possible have upon modern day society. When I say "Legalized Cannibalism", I don't mean that we should literally go around dining on our neighbors. I'm talking about structured Cannibalism, that will benefit our world. Many of you are aware of the major problems in our world; poverty in third world countries, terrorism, and crime rates. I assure you, that with the legalization of cannibalism, these problems won't be such a burden. As of January 1st, 2008, there were over 3,000 criminals on death row in the U.S alone. What do you think happens to all of that perfectly good meat? What happens to the bodies after the deed has been done? Decorating cemeteries all across the country. Meanwhile, in Ethiopia, a family of 7 is sitting down to the dinner table with their 'feast' of half a banana peel and a cocoa bean. This situation is a perfect example of "Willful waste makes woeful want".

When you think about it, prisoners are about the healthiest of the populations. They spend endless hours a day doing chin-ups on their bed frames, they eat healthy meals, and for the most part, receive health care when it's needed. When they pay the death sentence, all of that perfectly healthy, lean meat goes to waste. It decays under the soil, while that family of 7 dies of starvation in Ethiopia. A resolution for this problem? Feeding the meat of of convicted murderers to the families in third world countries. This source of food may not be appealing to you, but I'm sure if you asked those starving families if they'd rather eat some healthy human meat, or slowly watch their family starve to death- to
die, they'd pick the Cannibalism option. Right now, they don't have that choice, but hopefully someday, they will.

Of course, for health reasons, the meat would be tested for diseases, infections, and parasites. This same precaution is undertaken when donating blood, stem cells, or platelets. Contrary to popular belief, there's no heath risks involved with eating human flesh, as long as it has been proven to be disease and parasite free. Another benefit that would come from supplying third world countries with meat from the bodies of convicted murders would be the decrease in crime rates. I'm sure you'd think twice about committing a serious crime if you knew that your internal organs would end up on some Ethiopian dinner table, garnished in gravy, awaiting watering mouths. Suddenly, committing a serious offense wouldn't be as appealing as it used to be, would it?

This way, everybody's happy. The crime rates are decreasing, and half of the starving world is being fed. But what happens to the people who WANT to help? Those Samaritans in society who write "Organs to be donated towards scientific research" on their drivers licenses? Consensual Cannibalism is the act of consuming the flesh of another human being, under their consent. This practice, although to some may be less immoral than in-consensual Cannibalism, is still illegal in the majority of modern day societies. I don't believe that this is right. I should have the right to decide what happens to my body after I'm finished with it, and I have deceased. Many people donate their functional organs to help cancer patients survive. What's the difference in putting somebody else's organs in your body via surgery to save your life, or via mouth to save your life. Other people donate their bodies towards scientific research, in attempts in solving aids or diabetes. What if I'd like to donate my body towards a larger problem- solving world hunger. After all, people can't contract aids, or get cancer if they're already dead as a result of starvation. People need to realize that taking care of the most urgent priorities first is the most important thing that can be done to save this earth. Still not convinced? Cannibalism is more natural than one would think. While still in their mother uterus, sand tiger shark embryos develop teeth - and an appetite. The largest of the shark babies in each of the mothers TWO uterus's, attacks and eats it's smaller siblings, leaving just two pups to be born. If not for this act of Cannibalism, the embryos would not get a sufficient food supply, and die. Sand Tiger sharks would go extinct if not for this act of Cannibalism.

A number of studies over the past decade have revealed that Cannibalism is surprisingly widespread throughout the animal kingdom. Groups that eat their own species range from lowly Protozoa, slime molds, and sea slugs, to insects, spiders, fish and reptiles. Scientists have also found Dinosaur bones in the stomach of dinosaurs of the same species. They predict that in times of famine, these reptiles would revert to Cannibalism by eating their dead, or living, counterparts. Why has it taken humanity so long to realize that Cannibalism is an all-natural part of our Eco-system, and that it has been practiced since the beginning of time, and in other species as a means of survival? Why is our race so willing to let people who are less fortunate than ourselves starve to death, while we waste perfectly good meat to decay underground? The answer is Ethics, and moral value. People are too worried about fulfilling societies expectations to aid in solving world problems. That reality may never change.

Hopefully, someday I'll be able to put "Donate body to solve world hunger' On MY drivers license. But until then, I believe in compulsory Cannibalism; if people were forced to eat what they killed, then wars would cease to exist."
