Sadly, this is also true for memorizing every aspect of every course that you need to pass in order to be the slightest bit successful in your adult life. Unless of course you're in a band and shall inevitably make millions... in which case, rock on. \m/
For the rest of us mere mortals, facing the harsh reality of memorizing every hormone and parent gland in the excretory system, and the exact date and time in which Hitler had a bowel movement is an insane expectation. UNLESS you harness the infinite power of Absurd Association. Often times, cramming for an exam will help for the week that you need to know the information. After that, it seems to diffuse from every knowledgeable part of your body and into a dark abyss, never to be found again (especially during the final exam of the course...).
I have recently taken advantage of this technique when having to memorize how a Neron looks at rest. At rest, the outside of a Neuron is positively charged. This is due to a large quantity Na+ (sodium) and a lower quantity of K+(Potassium) along with some Cl-(Chlorine). I would put myself in the most unlikely situation to remember. I am sitting in a pool (chlorine) while eating a banana(Potassium) that I have covered in salt (Sodium). This unlikely occurrence produces such a vivid image in my mind that I am likely never to forget what the neuron looks like at rest. Similarly for the inside, since amino acids and chlorine are also present to give the cell a negative charge, and amino acids are the products of broken down meat, I imagine the negatively charged inside as as steak floating in a bucket of bleach.
Utilize the power of the Absurd Association technique, and you'll never find studying for an exam to be boring again. You will also retain the information for a much longer period of time, become an evil genius, and inevitably take over the world. O.o
